We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Business Development Lead, Venture Groups & Pilots to
shape the future of Edmonton’s Built World Tech sector. This role offers the chance to lead high-impact
programs, build powerful industry partnerships, and leave a lasting legacy in Edmonton’s innovation
ecosystem. This term position ending: March 31, 2027

What You’ll Do:

Program Strategy & Development

  • Lead the strategic growth of the Venture Groups & Pilots programs.
  • Define program vision and set expansion targets across industry verticals.
  • Shape collaborative projects and innovation opportunities with measurable impact.
  • Track performance against growth goals and success metrics.

Community & Partnerships

  • Recruit members, partners, and investors across target industries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry leaders and strategic partners.
  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements to ensure long-term value.
  • Design recruitment strategies to foster sustainable community growth.

Event Leadership & Activation

  • Design and lead activation events (e.g., Collision Labs, Project Labs).
  •  Facilitate industry roundtables, networking activities, and collaborative sessions.
  • Provide training and resources to support venture group leaders.
  • Coordinate event logistics to optimize participant engagement and experience.

In your first year:

  • Launch a flagship Built World Tech Venture Group, bringing together leaders in construction
    tech, PropTech, and smart cities.
  • Recruit and engage top industry partners to co-develop real-world challenges that drive
    innovation.
  • Design and lead three Collision events, creating dynamic opportunities for startups and industry
    partners.
  • Facilitate hands-on Project Labs, guiding collaborative sprints with entrepreneurs, mentors, and
    industry experts.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, including recruiting and developing the Programs
    Lead, Venture Groups & Pilots.
  • Deliver measurable impact, with a target of 10 pilot projects completed in 2026 that showcase the programs success.

What you Bring to the Role:

  • Experience: 8–10 years in venture capital, startup acceleration, corporate innovation, or industry
    consortium development.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team to achieve organizational goals.
  • Self-Starter: Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Community Building: Track record in building communities and recruiting members.
  •  Ecosystem Network: Strong, established network within the venture and startup ecosystem.
  • Partnership Development: Experience cultivating partnerships and managing high-value
    relationships.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
