Edmonton Unlimited and Construction Innovation Centre Partner to Advance Innovation in the Built Environment

Earlier today at CIC Forum 2026, Edmonton Unlimited officially announced a new partnership with the Construction Innovation Centre (CIC), marking an important step forward for innovation across the built environment sector.

Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding, Edmonton Unlimited and CIC will collaborate through the Venture Pilots: Built World Tech Program to help accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies across construction, infrastructure, and the broader built world ecosystem.

The partnership is rooted in a shared belief that stronger collaboration between startups, industry leaders, and ecosystem partners creates better opportunities for innovation to move from concept to real-world implementation.

By working together, Edmonton Unlimited and CIC aim to support more pilot projects, strengthen commercialization pathways, and create greater opportunities for innovators to connect directly with industry challenges and market needs.

The collaboration will also help create stronger connections across Alberta’s innovation ecosystem through shared programming, ecosystem engagement, and future Built World Tech showcases.

“The future of the built environment depends on stronger collaboration between research, industry, and innovation ecosystems. Through this partnership with Edmonton Unlimited, we’re creating new opportunities for emerging technologies to be tested, validated, and adopted by industry. Together, we can help accelerate the commercialization of innovation and strengthen Alberta’s leadership in construction and infrastructure,” stated Ali Golabchi, Executive Director, Construction Innovation Centre.

The announcement took place during a panel hosted by Edmonton Unlimited at CIC Forum 2026, bringing together leaders, builders, innovators, and changemakers focused on shaping the future of construction and infrastructure.

As emerging technologies continue to transform how we design, build, and operate the spaces around us, partnerships like this play an important role in helping innovators test solutions, scale impact, and drive meaningful industry adoption.
