Propel yourself forward!  A 12-week pre-accelerator program designed to support Edmonton-based, early-stage, innovative startups, Propel offers hands-on, individual support from expert mentors who have been there and know what’s next on the journey to tackle the world’s most pressing problems.

This exciting opportunity is free-of-charge to founders and up to 2 additional team members which is made possible by Alberta Innovates, through the Edmonton Regional Innovation Network.


Propel is a tailored program that helps guide you through the next steps to grow your company by connecting you to experts, key skills training, structured peer-to-peer mentoring, accountability coaching, and a spot to pitch in the Propel Showcase Propel 6 Runs: September 19 – December 15, 2022

  • Investment Readiness: The how and why of funding your company as you continue to get traction and grow.
  • IP: Intellectual property strategy for your company.
  • Pitching and Public Speaking: Get people to listen when you talk. Make sure you’re pitching in a compelling and effective way.
  • Sales and Marketing: Without customers, you have no company. Learn to sell and create a sales strategy from prospecting to closing.
  • Product Success: Dig into how to talk to your users and gain insights from those conversations with product management and validation techniques.
  • UX/UI Best Practices: Get your product reviewed, and gain insights into the usability of your product or website.
  • AI for Your Company: Learn from Edmonton-based, Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, and find out how you can leverage artificial intelligence in your business.
  • General Startup Advising Mentors: Meet with numerous mentors, advisors and investors over the 12 weeks. Each will have some learnings to share with you based on their expertise and your questions.
  • Founder Health: Set yourself up for success with expert advice, accountability, and support from your cohort and coaches.
  • Thinking Global (opportunity navigation): Learn how to develop your team and culture as you grow.
  • Social Impact: How can you business be aligned with local and global, sustainable development goals?
  • Your company is based in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
  • You have an early-stage startup or business.  
  • Your business/product is either: 
    • Tech-enabled, meaning through technology is scalable and can grow beyond your own personal expertise, availability and geographic location. 
    • OR
    • Unique and innovative, meaning it’s based on a process or product that is not easily replicated.  
  • You must demonstrate traction towards commercialization. 
  • You are able to commit 10-15 hours per week for 12 weeks. 

Acceptance to Propel is by way of competitive application decided upon by a community panel. We will be accepting a maximum of 10 companies (a company can include 1 founder and up to 2 additional team members). Participation includes complimentary supports & connection to the community. Prior involvement in Edmonton Unlimited programs is not a requirement for application.

  • 12 weeks of 10-15 hours per week live, online with a final pitch showcase in-person during week 13.

Innovation U: An Entrepreneurship Series

Adapted from Edmonton Unlimited’s Startup Foundation series through to Preflight: Market, Sell, Pitch is an inclusive program aimed at all innovators and entrepreneurs. Each class can be taken in sequence or as a stand-alone session and is designed to build upon one another.
